I don't know why Blogger kept giving me huge spacing between lines and linking the photo. Wasted a lot of time just trying to get this to format. Anyways...

Here's one from a game I played the shit out of back in the day. This is Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3. Quite a mouthful. It is the third game in the Budokai Tenkaichi series which itself is a sequel to the Budokai series. I don't remember when I bought it but I had it when I was a kid. I never even really watched Dragon Ball much. It was just never on when I watched TV. I recall watching parts of the Buu saga and being horrified that everyone was dead or possessed. I think I also watched bits of Dragon Ball GT but I don't remember much. I always thought it took place before Dragon Ball Z. I did know about the characters though and had a slight idea of what was going on in the game.

DBZ:BT3 is a fighting game starring characters from Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball GT, Dragon Ball and Dr. Slump. There's no central plot, rather you can redo various scenes from each of the animes/mangas arcs with the player taking control of a character in it. For example, one of the parts of the Frieza saga has the player play as Frieza against the Z warriors and defeat them while upgrading to his next form.

One of my favourite things this game offers that not many DBZ games is tons of "What If..?" scenarios. I don't know why but if you do special things in the main story missions you can unlock secret missions containing different endings. One such mission is the Bardock and Frieza fight but Bardock wins or Nail single-handedly defeating the Ginyu Force. With unique dialogue as well.

The game features a whopping 98 playable characters. At the time it completely blew my mind. It even affected me buying more DBZ games because I was spoiled by that. It wasn't until my Mugen days that I ever got to having that many characters at once. I didn't even play many of them but just having them all blew my mind. I mainly played Bardock, Android 17, Super 17, Jeice and Turles. The best part was I didn't even know who Turles was at the time. I still haven't seen the movie he's in but he's still a cool character (even though he's literally just evil Goku).

The game had to much replayability. Tons of different story modes, tournaments, lots of character unlockables, other unlockables and just so much content. I never even got through all of it before I stopped playing. My disc starting skipping and would infinitely loop on the loading screens. It pained me so much back then to never have completed it.

I recently dumped my copy and ran it through PCSX2 with upscaled graphics and various enhancements and it looked beautiful. So crisp. It ran perfectly as well. No lag, delay or stuttering. Played a bunch of tournaments with my friends. I may have to give that story mode another try. There's other games in the series including one on the PSP but I know they don't feature the same number of characters so I doubt I will give them a chance anytime soon.

This release is credited to Hiromi Mizutani, Kenji Fujisawa, Hideyuki Fukasawa, Taki Arima and Tadayoshi Makino. It also features a single song from Hironobu Kageyama (the opening). To stop this post from becoming too long I won't go into each of their own careers. Basically they are all Japanese composers who would go on to compose for various anime adaptions and video games. One of the composers would go on to make the soundtrack for Street Fight V and another would compose the soundtrack for the Naruto movie, Blood Prison.

The music is very energetic hard rock, some heavy metal, all with electronic influence. My favourite track is by far Hot and Scream. Not much can get me as hype as that. Just the energetic drums it starts it and that guitar solo is beautiful.

The rip was made available on KHInsider back in 2015 but below is a link to my version with proper tags and a different cover art (as seen above). Quality is 192kbps.
